The youngest member of the Royal Family is quickly becoming a style icon, and we love his fashion sense. The other week he showed us how to look adorable in a cute name sweater, and after he left for the Royal Tour Down Under, he’s showed us how baby boy rompers and knitwear make ideal wardrobe choices for little boys.
Our white baby boy rompers with blue train embroidery (£65) have been very popular this season, and our sewers are busy making more for the summer. They’re great for boys to wear in warm weather, and they look stunning with our selection of cardigans.
Prince George was wearing a white baby romper with a cream cardigan when he disembarked the plane in Auckland last week, and we agree that cream looks gorgeous with white rompers for a more formal look. Our hand knitted cardigans in cream come in either 100% cashmere, a merino/cashmere blend or a cotton/cashmere blend, and they’re perfect for special occasions.
Later in the week, Prince George was wearing a knitted navy jacket with collar, and we also do some beautiful hand knitted navy jackets in a similar style. A regal baby look!
With warmer weather on the horizon, it’s time to stock up on summer clothes and ensure the little ones have light and comfortable clothes to wear in the sun. We have introduced new, gorgeous, floral Liberty print frill tops and bloomer sets in 100% cotton for baby girls, which are ideal for hot weather.
The hand made sets (£49) include sleeveless tops with frill detail along the hem and armholes and matching bloomers with elasticated waistband and cuffs. They can be paired with one of our beautiful cashmere cardigans available in a wide range of colours.
The sets, which come in the blue Danjo print and the Ros print, are super cute and make adorable summer outfits for little girls! Order your baby girl a set now for the summer months or to take on your Easter holiday in the sun!
After Prince George was pictured in a pale blue, knitted sweater with his name on in the royal family portrait released this weekend, our adorable, bespoke sweaters made the news!
Although our name sweaters are not on the website yet, we offer personalised baby and children’s sweaters in a similar style to the one little Prince George was wearing in the photo (see the story in baby&me magazine HERE). Our gorgeous sweaters, all hand knitted in the UK, come in a merino/cashmere or cotton/cashmere blend in a wide choice of colours, including pale blue or pink with cream lettering.
The sweater this little boy is wearing is very similar in style to our cute name sweater
To design the name sweaters, the Sue Hill team makes a graph of the child’s name and our very skilled knitters incorporate the name into the front of the sweater or cardigan. The name goes across the chest at armhole level. It’s a truly personalised sweater, and makes a unique gift!
The pale blue or pink name sweaters in a merino/cashmere or cotton/cashmere blend are £65 in sizes 0-6 months to 18-24 months, and £75 for sizes 2-3 years to 5-6 years. To order your special sweater, contact us now via email or phone.

Our Sue Hill clothes are handmade with love in the UK, and it’s always so rewarding for our team to see pictures of our adorable customers wearing our clothes. We have more than 100 knitters around the country, and we’re sure they’ll be thrilled to see these two cuties wearing their Sue Hill knitwear.
This happy customer looks utterly gorgeous in her bespoke Sue Hill shawl collar coat, beanie and scarf set. Her mummy and daddy bought her this beautiful set, deciding to have our delicate forget-me-nots embroidered onto these classic pieces. The forget-me-nots were also hand embroidered onto the back belt of the shawl collar coat, and the whole outfit looks stunning.
Although it’s finally warming up outside, we’re already looking ahead to winter here at Sue Hill. It’s been a very exciting start to the month with new fabric swatches arriving and sample dresses being finished.
Sue has been trawling fabric fairs for beautiful and unique fabrics for the new season, and we’re now looking at a selection of gorgeous wool blend fabrics – some herringbone and some patterned. We think these lovely and soft fabrics, made in Portugal, will be perfect for our popular classic-style pinafores.
In addition, we’re looking at these swatches for our baby and girls coats. The new autumn/winter collection will include new classic coat styles, some with velvet trims, and we think some of the wool blend fabrics will be amazing for the new designs.
To wear with these gorgeous coats, we’ll also have a range of new dresses. Some of the samples for our Bergdorf Goodman collection, are already done, and we’re so excited about these adorable baby party dresses for the autumn/winter season. We will make it easy for little ones to dress to impress!
It can be daunting to plan a wedding or a christening, and many brides and mums find it particularly challenging to dress their little ones for these special family events. Here at Sue Hill we know how important it is to get the details absolutely right, and that’s why we offer our customers a bespoke service. In the last few months, we’ve been very busy with bespoke orders, and here are examples of a few gorgeous bespoke designs.
Our latest bespoke order were for two flower girl dresses based on the cotton Poppy tulle dress design. We added puff sleeves to the style and knitted boleros to go with the dresses. Onto the boleros, we hand-stitched sparkles matching the sequins and beads on the bodice of the dresses. The little outfits look stunning!
Another recent bespoke order was also for two Poppy flower girl dresses, and for this customer we added fuschia sashes to match the colour scheme of the wedding and the dresses of the older bridesmaids.
We also made a bespoke dress for the bride’s daughter to wear. Her adorable outfit is based on our silk Matilda dress, but Sue hand-stitched sequins and beads onto the bodice and skirt. A gorgeous dress for mum’s big day!
For another customer, we made a special christening outfit for mum and daughter. Mum chose the beautiful cream wild rose cashmere dress for her little girl, and we made a matching shawl for mum to wear on the big day. A lovely touch to a very special family event!
With the temperature changing and the sun finally shining again, now is the time to start planning the summer season. And that’s exactly what we’ve done at Sue Hill this week. In fact, we’ve even released a few key pieces from our brand new spring/summer 2014 collection in-store and online!
Highlights from the new collection include our fabulous spring party dresses, which are available in two limited edition seasonal Liberty prints – Ricardo’s Blooms and Rochester. The party dresses, which are in one of our bestselling styles, have a circular skirt, round neck, cap sleeve, sash, and layers of netting. These fantastic hand made dresses ooze style, and they’re ideal for all those summer birthdays!
For baby girls, we’ve now released one of Sue’s favourite pieces from the new collection, our adorable Capel Liberty print dress. This cute dress has puffed sleeves, a peter pan collar and full gathered skirt, and it would make a lovely baby gift, or a wonderful outfit for a baby photo shoot.
Sue’s other favourite dress from the new collection is our gorgeous Aurelia dress, which has a semi circular skirt, button and loops opening at the back and a grosgrain ribbon around the waist. This pretty but understated hand made dress in a beautiful Liberty print is perfect for little girls to wear to anything from a theatre trip to a summer party!
School holidays are always fun, but it can be difficult to come up with an action-packed programme for the whole week. To do something different this half-term, why not visit historic Tunbridge Wells, which is only an hour by train from London?
The Sue Hill shop is based in a beautiful part of Tunbridge Wells called The Pantiles, and this really is an ideal destination for a day trip.
The Pantiles, a pretty colonnaded walkway, is a short walk from Tunbridge Wells station, and there’s lots to see here, including cute shops, galleries and cafes.

If you want to take the children out for a half-term treat, The CakeShed, does lovely cakes made fresh on site and it’s located straight across The Pantiles from our shop.
There’s also a new patisserie Shrager’s Patisserie across from our shop, where you can enjoy breakfast, coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. We’ve recently had several customers commenting on how impressed they are with the patisserie’s chef Marc Mouzon, an award-winning, Paris-trained pastry chef. Shrager’s Patisserie, opened by chef and cookery teacher Rosemary Shrager, is definitely worth a stop on a day in The Pantiles.
But don’t forget to set aside time for visiting our beautiful shop too! We will be previewing our spring/summer collection in-store this week, and you can stop by to place your orders. While you browse the new collection, your little ones can have fun playing in our play corner.
A catwalk show in a luxury London hotel with amazing young models and beautiful clothes. Can a Sunday become any better?
We had a wonderful time at High Tea & Fashion at The Dorchester on Sunday, raising money for Children in Crisis, and we were incredibly impressed with the fantastic catwalk show where a number of brand new Sue Hill pieces were showcased.
The show was very well choreographed and the lovely children did a fantastic job at showing off our new clothes. There was a real mix of fashion for all ages, and Sue was really pleased with how our clothes were presented on the catwalk. ‘It showed that we make a real variety of styles and clothes in different colours,’ she commented.
We would like to say a big thank you to all our gorgeous models, and we already look forward to High Tea & Fashion 2015!
