While parents are busy getting their little ones ready for the new season, we’re very excited to have expanded our collection of classic boys sweaters and slipovers. The Sue Hill collection of knitwear now includes four new styles for boys–two new sweaters and two new slipovers–which are all available in sizes up to 11-12 years.
Classic styles with cable design
Our new Oliver sweater and slipover are both hand knitted in a soft merino/cashmere blend with central vertical cable design and double rib on the cuffs, bottom edge and crew neck. This classic style with a twist is ideal for keeping warm in the winter, and it is available in teal and navy.
Comfortable styles with self-stripe design
Our new Oscar sweater and slipover are also both hand knitted in a soft merino/cashmere blend with double rib on the cuffs, bottom edge and neck. This style is knitted in moss stitch and garter stitch, which results in a very effective self-stripe design. This comfortable style is an excellent choice for autumn/winter, and it is available in navy and grey.
With the end of the summer holiday fast approaching, we’re helping more and more families prepare for the new school term and change of seasons. To get your baby ready for the autumn, here are some of the top picks from our collection:
The shawl collar coat in a merino/cashmere blend (from £65) is one of our classic bestsellers. It’s longer than many other jackets, making it ideal for covering up baby girls when the weather gets colder. The shawl coat looks very elegant, and it can take you through the colder months, as you can easily layer up under it when needed.
The vintage-inspired swing coat in a merino/cashmere blend (from £65) is also perfect for the change of seasons. It looks adorable, and is great for keeping little ones warm. In winter, the generous cut means this coat is also good for layering up underneath.
The hooded jacket in a merino/cashmere blend (from £59) can look sweet on both boys and girls, as the style is so versatile and it can be done in a variety of colours like all our knitwear. Parents often buy this hooded jacket as one of baby’s first wardrobe pieces, and it is a popular choice for the autumn and winter months.

When it’s warm and sunny, it’s nowhere better to holiday than in England, and we love taking the family to see the beautiful English countryside and charming seaside towns.
Here are some of the places we love:
Stylish Coworth Park is only a short drive from London, but the stunning scenery around the hotel and the beautiful grounds makes it the perfect place to stay for a relaxing weekend out of the city. The hotel is very popular with families, and there are lots of activities on offer for all ages, including horse-riding and swimming.
Daylesford Farm Cottages
Daylesford Farm in the Cotswolds has some amazing self-catering cottages, which are ideal for families looking to recharge the batteries. Some of the cottages are located opposite the Farm Shop and Cafe, making it easy for families to shop seasonal and organic food on site, or go for breakfast and lunch across the yard. There’s also a lovely spa at Daylesford Farm, where mum can relax with a massage or a yoga session while dad takes the children to see some of the animals on the surrounding fields.
To make the most of the high sea temperatures this summer, Driftwood Hotel in Cornwall is an ideal destination. The boutique hotel is set above a stunning beach, and the hotel’s Michellin-starred Cornish restaurant boasts delicious food and fantastic sea views. The charming hotel also has a children’s games room where the kids can play while mum and dad relax on the terrace.
There’s been news about a new commemorative coin being released, and his face is on the cover of Vanity Fair. It is all about Prince George this month, as the cute member of the family is fast approaching 1. We can’t wait to hear more about the birthday celebrations, and here are some ideas for how to celebrate the Big 1 in style:
Pick a theme
It might not be obvious what theme to choose for a first birthday if the little one hasn’t started showing a keen interest in a specific cartoon character, but teddies and animals can be popular choices for first birthday party themes. If the birthday boy or girl has a favourite soft toy or comforter, you can use that as inspiration for the theme too.
Dress to impress
Since the little one will be the centre of attention at the party, it’s the perfect opportunity to get a stunning party outfit and ensure you get some adorable photos taken at the event.
For girls, we have a selection of beautiful Liberty print dresses, and you can choose to have a matching hairband to complete the birthday look. Extremely cute!
For boys, our William shirt and romper pants is a popular choice for first birthdays, as it’s so adorable and it can even be personalised with initials or name. A lovely birthday outfit!
Balloons and more balloons
Balloons make brilliant decorations, and little ones can find them very exciting to look at. Decorate the table by tying a Number 1 balloon together with four standard balloons, and add more balloons to the chairs. For first birthdays, you might not even want to have goody bags, but party guests can have a balloon to take home instead.
During the warm summer months, there are endless opportunities for dressing little girls in pretty dresses, and it can easily feel like a beautiful dress is the No 1 wardrobe essential.
In July, many of us will have end-of-term parties, Sunday picnics, barbecues with friends, garden parties, holiday fun, and summer birthdays. The list goes on – and the dress has to be at hand for the ultimate summer look.
With the array of opportunities for wearing beautiful dresses for little girls, we’ve been busy making adorable Liberty print dresses for our lovely customers–some of whom have chosen to have their dress in their favourite Liberty print fabric.
We’ve recently done two beautiful Aurelia dresses in Liberty prints chosen specifically by the customers–one Michael print and one Elizabeth print–and for both these we made matching hair accessories. Amazing summer outfits!
We’ve also had some generous grandparents ordering bespoke dresses for two lucky little girls. For the oldest one, they chose to have our party dress made in the Lodden print, and for the youngest one, they chose to have the Alice dress in the Glenjade print. Stunning summer dresses!
We would love to help you choose the perfect summer dresses for your little girls! If you don’t find what you’re looking for online or in-store, come visit us in-store or call us on +44 (0)1892 513293 and we can help you decide on a different Liberty print fabric for a special summer dress.
With the weather continuing to stay warm, it seems like we can safely pack away thick wool jackets and bring out light and soft summer clothes. In recent weeks, we’ve had lots of requests for lighter knitwear, and our cotton/cashmere blend is a favourite among customers over the summer months.
It’s definitely not all about adorable rompers and short-sleeved shirts. It’s also essential to keep some summer warmers in your little ones’ wardrobes, and here are some suggestions for what to buy for boys this summer:
Cute slipovers are extremely practical and easy to wear over a white shirt or body, and they make a great buy for little boys. We love how smart our young customers look in their slipovers, and they often get excited to see that their soft garment is decorated with a hand embroidered scotty dog or soldiers.
Soft, hand-knitted jackets are also brilliant for little buggy riders, and our hooded jacket with a tassle in a cotton/cashmere blend is a favourite for summer. This versatile baby boy jacket also comes decorated with a hand embroidered scotty dog or soldiers on the patch pockets and it has matching covered buttons. A great staple piece for summer!
On a warm summer day earlier this month, we gathered five brilliant models for a fun Sue Hill
photo shoot. The models, ranging from eight months to 15 months in age, all behaved beautifully and did an excellent job despite having to cope with a number of clothes changes. From behind the camera, we worked hard at times when our models needed a little encouragement to give us a smile, but on the whole they were fantastic!
Here are some of the cute photos from the shoot!
Annabelle in a Liberty print frill top and bloomers set (£49)
Flossie in a cashmere Forget Me Not cardigan (£79) and hand-embroidered dress and pants (£69)
Ameer in a soldier slipover in cotton cashmere (£39)
Oliver in a Scotty Dog hooded jacket in cotton cashmere (£59)

It doesn’t take long before little girls start enjoying dressing up and wearing pretty accessories. And hair accessories are typically the most important ones.
That’s why some of our young customers always order matching hair bands or hair clips when buying a new dress, and we love how cute they look when everything matches.
We don’t always feature all our hair accessories online, but we can do a range of hand made hair accessories in the same fabrics as our dresses.
For weddings and christenings our Rosebud and Roses hairbands are very popular. They can be made in cotton, silk or satin to match the fabric of our dresses and complete a special occasion outfit!
For everyday dresses and summer party dresses, our Liberty Print Bow Alice hairbands are a favourite among girls aged around 2 and over. They are also hand made to match our dresses and complete the look!
For our youngest customers, stretchy hairbands in Liberty prints with a bow are ideal, and we do these to match our dresses too. Adorable on baby girls!
In addition to our selection of hairbands, we can also do hair bows. The options are endless, so don’t forget to accessorise this summer!
The summer christening season is upon us, and we have been inundated with requests for unique summer christening outfits. This season, we’ve had significant interest in personalised outfits, with customers looking for pretty dresses or adorable rompers that can be monogrammed or personalised with a colour of choice.
Our cute hand made silk shirt and romper sets are favourites for summer christenings, and they can be personalised with initials or names at the front of the body. Some parents also decide to have the date of the christening embroidered at the back.
In addition, we have a large selection of silks in different colours to choose from for contrast colour piping, and the monogramming can be done in the same shade as the piping.
Another way to personalise is to have the initials embroidered on both the romper and the baby shoes, something we’ve recently done for one lucky little boy. A truly special outfit!
For girls, the silk Rosa dress and Marlborough christening gown (see picture below) are popular choices, and these both have hand embroidery at the front. To personalise these stunning christening outfits, some customers opt for piping in their colour of choice.
It is also possible to personalise a dress with name and date, but because of the hand embroidery on the girls dresses it has been even more popular to choose monogramming for boys.
For personalised christening outfits, please allow three weeks delivery, and to see the variety of colours of silk, pop in-store or contact us to receive swatches by post.
